Panagiota Mantalia
Panagiota Mantalia is a PE80 teacher and PhD candidate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of the Peloponnese. Her PhD research focuses on the design and optimization of a RAG-based virtual assistant for teaching Economics, utilizing Small Language Models (SLMs) for efficient retrieval and comparing SLM/LLM options in terms of cost, privacy, response time and accuracy, with answers accompanied by sources.
She researches the digital transformation of the school unit, the use of ICT in teaching and administration, as well as innovative pedagogical interventions. She holds a Master's degree in Educational Organization and Administration and a degree in Home Economics and Ecology from Harokopio University. She has been serving at the 1st High School of Mouzaki since 2004 and was the Principal (31/08/2021-03/07/2023). She has experience in environmental and innovative school programs, in teacher training and in the development of curricula/educational materials.
She has presented at national and international conferences and published in scientific journals. She has Level 1 and 2 ICT certifications, adult educator certification (EOPPEP) and excellent knowledge of English (C2). She is a member of the Scientific Association for the Promotion of Educational Innovation (EEPEK) and PEEKPE, participates in registers of evaluators/educators (IEP, EKPA/ELKE) and focuses on connecting administration, technology and pedagogy for quality, inclusive learning at scale.
