Charalampos M. Liapis
Dr. Charalampos M. Liapis is a mathematician who works as a programmer and researcher at the Computer Technology Institute and Press "Diophantus." His area of expertise is artificial intelligence and language, with a central focus on the study of large language models, both from the technical perspective of mathematics and computer science, as well as from the standpoint of their philosophical premises and implications.
He has research experience in interdisciplinary frameworks of mathematics, machine learning, and philosophy. He has received teaching scholarships from the University of Patras, and his work in data analysis has been awarded. Additionally, he has participated as a fellow intern in the "Archimedes" unit of the "Athena" Research Center, focusing on artificial intelligence, data science, and algorithms, under the direction of Timos Sellis and the guidance of the lead scientists Christos H. Papadimitriou and Konstantinos Daskalakis.
He holds bachelor's degrees in mathematics and philosophy, as well as a master's degree in computational intelligence. His doctoral dissertation focuses on semantic representations and sentiment analysis in the context of their integration in time-series modeling. His research interests include machine learning and natural language processing, semantics, explainability, logic and the foundations of mathematics, as well as the philosophy of artificial intelligence, perception, and mind. He has authored a series of scientific publications in international journals and has participated in international conferences. Finally, he has studied music, having worked concurrently as an instructor of modern theory and practice for several years, and has extensively engaged in experimental electronic composition.
