Dr. Vangelis Kapoulas

Vaggelis Kapoulas is a Computer and Informatics Engineer, Ph.D. He obtained his Computer Engineering diploma from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department, School of Engineering, University of Patras, Greece. He obtained his Ph.D. from the same department.

He has been working in research projects for University of Patras and Computer Technology Institute, and for the Expertnet Ltd. consulting company. He has been teaching at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Patras. Since 1996, he has been working, on a permanent basis, at Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus” (CTI). He is currently Director of the Directorate of Infrastructure and Networks, at CTI. He is also a member of the Associate Educational Staff (A.E.S.) at the Hellenic Open University (in Thematic Unit PLI-10 for the academic years from 2010-11 to 2013-14, and in the Thematic Unit PLIPRO for the academic year from 2021-2022 onwards). Finally, he is responsible for the Patras, Messolonghi and Lechaina nodes for the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology – GRNET S.A. His research interests include the scientific areas of Networks, Telematics and Algorithms for Distributed Systems. He has experience in broadband and next-generation networks, in transmission over wireless networks, and in communication, tracking and programming of drones. He participated in over 50 research and development (R&D) projects in various national and European programs. He is a co-author of three books in Greek. He has published over 20 research papers in book chapters and international scientific journals and over 70 research papers in international reviewed conferences.
